*Please note: Sessions 1, 4, and 7 are now full. All other sessions have some openings. If you want to sign up for a session and it is still showing as available, please go ahead and sign up. We update the website as soon as a session fills and will let you know ASAP if there is any problem.
**We will be open on July 4 and will run our regular program on that day.
Our online application is available below. If you prefer to print and mail a copy of the application, the print version is available here.
A $100 deposit is required to reserve a space for each session you sign up for. If you are sending multiple children, a deposit is required for each child.
In the past, we have accepted credit card payment for deposits, but due to our affiliation with UMass this year, we are no longer able to do so. You can submit an online application and as long as there is space in the session at the time of the application, we will reserve that space. However, please send a deposit check within a week of the application. Checks should be made payable to University of Massachusetts and sent to Summer Horsemanship Programs, UMass Hadley Farm, 111 North Maple Street, Hadley, MA 01035.
In 2019, we will be running summer horsemanship programs for kids from 6 to 12 at the UMass Hadley Farm. These programs provide a fun, horse-filled, and educational hands-on experience. Students have riding lessons and learn horsemanship and horse care in addition to participating in more traditional summer camp activities.
We will be running summer sessions on the following weeks:
July 29-August 2
We have both half-day and full-day program options. Mornings will be dedicated to chores, learning horsemanship, and riding lessons. After lunch, we have activities, crafts, and games. The more experienced horsemen become helpers to the newer students. And we really do have the kindest, sweetest, and most patient horses ever!
Families are welcome on Friday mornings to watch riding lessons and see what their children have learned. It is always a surprise to see how far they've come in such a short time!
